Kayaking

After our recent weekend kayaking expedition, it was clear, from listening to people's comments, that we all feel that we would like some further tuition in more advanced kayaking skills.  We will definately arrange this, probably with Whithaugh Park again, but I thought I'd have a wee search online to see what was available from the point of view of video tutorials.  Jim McPherson said to me, and these are wise words, "The best way to get out of trouble is not to get into trouble in the first place !"  So, I searched for videos on reading the river, as I feel that this is something which is central to keeping out of trouble !

I found this series of videos, and thought that maybe others would be interested in them too !!!  They mention a lot of the things that we have spoken about (signalling, equipment, how to paddle properly, etc) and are, I think, very very good indeed !

 Enjoy !

2. Getting into the Water

3.  Reading the River

4. Beginning Manoeuvers for Whitewater Kayaking

If anyone knows of any other good resources, please feel free to email me the info, and I can post the links or whatever on the site !

 Simon.
