I know, 2009 isn't finished yet, but hey we gotta plan these things. Below are a couple of suggestions for events for next year, maybe we can get something together.

Geocaching - event is planned for May/June with a BBQ.

Waverley Cruise - Go 'doon the watter' on the last ocean going paddle steamer, there is a variety of cruises that we could go on. suggest that June has been a good month the last few years.

Kayaking - The Tweed from Melrose to Kelso / Kelso to Berwick. Loch Sunnart and Loch Teacus. River Spey.

Karting - At Livingston or Tanent.

Off Roading - has been arranged.

Kite Surfing - big grin

Any other suggestions ??????

Kev.

Couldn't agree more !  We need to start getting events organised, and I would certainly be up for what you are proposing  !

Again, folks, can I re-iterate that the aim of Borders Adventurers is for those involved to plan and organise events and activities. Some people have now started to do this, which is great, but this year I would like to hand more of the organising of events to others.  If we all plan/propose one event we would fill the year very quickly, but, as tends to be the way with these things, only a few people become involved in organising things.

So ... the old plea again ... if you like what we do, and if you know of something we can do, please get in touch with myself so that we can discuss your proposal, and so that I can post the details online when they are finalised !!!

2009 has been a great year ... we have tried our hands at some new stuff, and aim to repeat some of these activities in 2010, but what about some stuff we HAVEN'T yet done ?

Any ideas ?

Kev ... some great ideas there !  Can I add the following ...

  • Return trip to paintballing (A great day out courtesy of Chris and Donald at Reload Painball)
  • Return trip to the Advanced Gorge walk (Brilliant ... just brilliant !)
  • A weekend 'Munro bagging' (Arthur proposed this a while ago and is still looking into it !)
  • Return to Puffin island (Great idea, Fiona !)
  • Advanced kayaking skills course (I am currently in discussion with Whithaugh about this)
  • A water skiing session (I have spoken with the school at Kielder about this)
  • Whitewater rafting (With nae Limits ... pricey, but guid !)
  • Skiing ... at hillend or at Xscape in Glasgow !

If you feel you can organise any of these events, and would like to do so, then just get in touch !

2010 ... bring it on !!!

The white water rafting sounds excellernt, but can we make it the Orchy as it is meant to be the best and can only be done at certain times of the year.  dry

Just read an article on a kayak trip from Elgol on Skye up to Loch Coruisk, then across to the island of Soay, where you can walk around the old shark fishery that was once owned by Gavin Maxwell, then back to Elgol.   smile

hi guys. with regards to the karting, the place at tranent is far superior as in speed and size of track. it has tracks both inside and outside. have been to livingston track a few times, its good but after a while can be boring. i would recommend the tranent track every time. mark

Mark.

Couldn't agree more ... have been to both on several ocassions and would agree that Tranent's Raceland is the better place.  Would you be happy to look into organising this ?  Perhaps for March time, as we have no events scheduled for then ?  Maybe a Grand Prix ?

Let me know !
